GOAL 1
To learn about pedagogical theories, models, and research related to online learning and instructional design and be able to use this knowledge to justify design decisions. |
GOAL 2
To learn about and/or gain proficiency with different digital learning tools and be able to choose the appropriate tool to match subject matter and learner needs. |
GOAL 3
To build upon my overall skills as an instructional designer (writing, research, teamwork, project management, etc.) so that I can become more efficient and effective in my daily tasks. |
Over time these competencies have evolved in order to reflect the growing breadth, depth, and complexity of this field. Instructional designers must now demonstrate a unique combination of skills and play a number of different roles such as researcher, writer, instructor, trainer, project manager, media and web developer, evaluator, performance analyst, and more. These growing roles and skillset are captured within IBSTPI’s instructional designer competencies (“Instructional Designer Competencies”, n.d.).
